An excellent quality English George III period small kneehole desk, in best Cuban mahogany, with oak drawer linings. The top in finely figured mahogany with a crossband edge, over two drawers,with three below to each side. The central cupboard moves forward to allow extra storage as needed. Of a type designed by Thomas Chippendale, the form one of the most useful in English 18th century furniture. This example has had the handles replaced with the original type, which inevitably would have worn from metal fatigue. The tall bracket feet are the original. Excellent colour & condition.
